Basic ballistic shield training will give officers the knowledge and training to be able to confidently deploy and utilize the shield in the field during high-risk situations such as active shooter, officer/civilian rescue, armed suspect search etc. Techniques such as weapon manipulation, loading & unloading, malfunction clearing, one hand operation, movements with the shield and live fire training.

Also discussed will be the limitations of the ballistic shield, not getting over confident and using the shield to get into situations that call for advanced units, tools or weapons.

First half of training is classroom last half is live fire at ETTS range in Maypearl. 50 rounds of rifle and pistol are required for live fire exercises.
