Description: This dynamic course of instruction is designed to prepare the first responder to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active shooter. This course will cover shooting and moving, communication, threshold evaluation, concepts and principles of team movement, setting up for and room entry techniques, approach and breaching the crisis site, improvised explosive devices. The course will culminate with dynamic force‑on‑force scenarios.
Required Equipment: duty gear, body armor, and appropriate clothing for “force-on-force” training. Head, eye, throat and groin protection will be provided. If outside agency has access to NLTA marker rounds and or simunition weapons it will be an advantage to bring those items.
Purpose and Topics:
- To identify active shooter and active killer threats;
- To understand one’s direct role in an active shooter situation;
- To learn critical response tactics as a solo officer or team;
- Communication
- To infiltrate the affected area as the responding officer;
- To implement limited penetration tactics to locate and eliminate the threat;
- To understand how to manage the scene after the threat is down
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE TRAINING SEARCHES OF ALL STAFF, STUDENTS, AND ANYTHING BROUGHT INTO THE VENUE WILL BE CONDUCTED. SINCE FORCE ON FORCE TRAINING IS OCCURING THERE CAN BE NO MARGIN FOR ERROR. SAFETY IS AN UPMOST CONCERN.
